MyCiTi taking senior citizens places

Senior citizens who belong to the Living Legends, a Table View Seniors’ Club, use the MyCiTi bus service for the majority of their monthly excursions. Many of the seniors live with their children, some in retirement villages and some in their own homes.

City gets going with MyCiTi depots in Metro South-east

The City of Cape Town’s Transport and Urban Development Authority (TDA) has commenced with the preparatory work for the construction of two MyCiTi bus depots in Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha. These depots form part of the roll-out of Phase 2A of the MyCiTi bus service which will serve 1,4 million commuters from the Metro South-east. 

City suspends MyCiTi bus service in Khayelitsha due to violence

The City of Cape Town this morning, 6 August 2018, suspended the MyCiTi bus service in Khayelitsha after three MyCiTi buses were stoned and two Golden Arrow Bus Service (GABS) buses were set alight. The service will remain suspended until further notice. 

MyCiTi bus driver goes the extra mile to reunite resident with her purse and diamond wedding ring

Thanks to the vigilance, honesty and initiative of MyCiTi bus driver Siphelo Maqubela, a Sea Point resident was reunited with her purse which contained her diamond wedding ring among other belongings of sentimental value. In recognition of Mr Maqubela’s efforts, Councillor Brett Herron, Mayoral Committee Member for Transport and Urban Development, presented him with a certificate of appreciation.

N2 Express service may be disrupted from 1 June 2018

MyCiTi service back on track

The MyCiTi service resumed operations this morning, 15 May 2018, after buses were grounded for nearly a month due to the nationwide strike action affecting the South African bus industry. The City expects that the buses on most of the routes will soon operate on schedule as the service settles in.

The City of Cape Town wants to inform commuters that the MyCiTi service remains suspended until further notice. It is still unclear when the nationwide strike action will come to an end, and as such the MyCiTi buses are not operating.
