MyCiTi staff return pensioner’s cellphone

Melanie Steenbok and Eagon Johnson, both station coordinators at the MyCiTi station in Atlantis, went beyond the call of duty when they returned a cellphone to Margaret Adams, a 70-year-old woman whose grandson recently lost her phone at the station.
MyCiTi urges commuters to stay safe while travelling this festive season

The 2020 festive season is here and the City of Cape Town is calling on all residents to look after themselves and fellow commuters while travelling. Please wear a mask at all times, sanitise or wash your hands often, and keep a safe distance from other travellers. Although this season will look very different to what we know, the MyCiTi service schedules will be adapted to suit the needs of residents and visitors.
MyCiTi travelling app a part of everyday life for commuters

The MyCiTi users have embraced the MyCiTi travelling app since its launch. It has only been a year since MyCiTi introduced the official travelling app and already it has been downloaded more than 32 000 times. The app has been used more than one million times and an average of 8 000 passengers use the app on a daily basis, enjoying this quick and convenient way to access service information. User data reveals that the app’s journey planner function has been used over 500 000 times and that more than 1 500 messages were sent to the Transport Information Centre via the app for quick responses.
Alert level 3 changes for MyCiTi passengers

National government has introduced changes to the regulations for Alert Level 3 of the national lockdown in an effort to limit the spread of Covid-19.
New stops - 27 June 2020

On 27 June, we’re introducing new stops in Atlantis, Hout Bay and along Koeberg Road in response to requests from passengers. These changes make it easier to connect with MyCiTi services and the use of temporary stops allows for new locations to be tested before we build permanent stops.
Commuters to suffer after MyCiTi buses, station set alight

This weekend marks one of the worst in the 10-year history of the MyCiTi service with violent attacks on assets and infrastructure in the Milnerton and Dunoon areas.
Omuramba station closed for now

The Omuramba station is closed after a MyCiTi bus was set on fire outside the station on Saturday night. No passengers were harmed but the station will not be in use until the damage can be assessed.
MyCiTi fares cheaper come 1 July 2020

The Executive Mayor Dan Plato was joined by Alderman Felicity Purchase, the Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, on a site visit to the MyCiTi station in Adderley Street. The purpose of the inspection was to check that the service is operating under COVID-19 hygiene and social distancing protocols.
