Mitchells Plain residents advised of nightworks along AZ Berman Drive as MyCiTi Phase 2A project progresses

The City of Cape Town's Urban Mobility Directorate is continuing with transport infrastructure upgrades along AZ Berman Drive in Mitchells Plain as part of the MyCiTi Phase 2A project. Night time construction work along AZ Berman Drive, between Nduli Street and Wespoort Drive, will commence on Monday, 14 September 2026 and will continue until 14 December 2026, if all goes according to plan.

Construction of new MyCiTi stations in Hanover Park and Mitchells Plain up next

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate is pleased to announce that the construction of the new MyCiTi bus stations in Hanover Park and Mitchells Plain is set to commence in the first week of September 2026, if all goes as planned. This project forms part of the MyCiTi bus service expansion that will connect Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha with Claremont and Wynberg.
City welcomes final interdict protecting MyCiTi Cape Flats route expansion from extortion

The City of Cape Town welcomes a final High Court interdict protecting MyCiTi Cape Flats route expansion construction projects from extortion, intimidation and unlawful interference. A final interdict was granted by the court on 4 August 2026, with costs awarded to the City. The order applies to Don Sikhundla, Senzo Ntlaka, the Philippi Business Forum, the Crossroads Business Forum and all other persons unlawfully interfering with the IRT Phase 2A project along Govan Mbeki Road in Philippi and elsewhere along the Lansdowne/Wetton Corridor.
Monthly Pass now available online

Good news! Monthly Passes can now be loaded online via the MyCiTi website, alongside Mover packages. Plan ahead, load online and activate your top-up by tapping your card on a station validator or info terminal. You can also activate your top up on the bus, but it may take up to 24 hours to work.
Bridge beams successfully installed at Duinefontein and Govan Mbeki Roads intersection

The City of Cape Town's Urban Mobility Directorate has successfully completed the installation of the large pre-cast concrete bridge beams at the Duinefontein Road and Govan Mbeki Road intersection. The operation involved the delivery and lifting of beams measuring approximately 36 metres in length and weighing around 40 tonnes each using heavy-duty cranes from Saturday, 1 August 2026, until Wednesday, 5 August 2026.
New permanent MyCiTi stops to be constructed in Woodstock and Hout Bay

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be converting temporary MyCiTi bus stops along Victoria Road in Hout Bay and Albert Road in Woodstock into permanent bus stops. The phased construction of these MyCiTi bus stops will take place between July and November 2026.
Operations resume at Killarney station

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate can confirm that the MyCiTi buses are still servicing the Killarney station, despite the extensive damage caused during a fire that occurred on Monday morning, 27 July 2026. The City is closely monitoring the situation and will implement a shuttle service, should the need arise.
