New permanent MyCiTi stops to be constructed in Woodstock and Hout Bay The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be converting temporary MyCiTi bus stops along Victoria Road in Hout Bay and Albert Road in Woodstock into permanent bus stops. The phased construction of these MyCiTi bus stops will take place between July and November 2026.

‘The City always first installs temporary MyCiTi stops along our routes to allow planners to test and confirm the safest, most convenient location for each stop before we build a permanent MyCiTi stop structure. The best locations for the two temporary stops along Victoria Road in Hout Bay and the four temporary stops along Albert Road in Woodstock have now been confirmed, following a thorough public participation process.

I am therefore pleased to announce that these temporary stops will be upgraded to permanent MyCiTi bus stops. The new facilities will include passenger shelters and improvements to the surrounding pedestrian infrastructure, enhancing accessibility, comfort and safety for public transport users. This is part of our motto to do all we can to keep Capetonians moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Some of the permanent bus stops will be built a few metres from their original locations to comply with road safety requirements, maintain design consistency and address space limitations.

The features of these new permanent bus stops which residents can look forward to include:

  • Branded MyCiTi totem poles with lighting for improved visibility
  • Leaning rails for passenger comfort
  • Bus service information
  • Universal access measures, including tactile paving and wheelchair-accessible ramps
  • Shelters with seating at high travel demand locations

Services will remain fully operational during construction, although minor delays may occur. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and to download the MyCiTi app for the latest bus times.

Stops affected in Hout Bay will include:

  • Imizamo Yethu eastbound
  • Imizamo Yethu westbound

Note that during the construction period temporary stops along Victoria Road will be closed and relocated along Hout Bay Main Road within close proximity of the Imizamo Yethu community.

Stops affected in Woodstock will include:

  • Barron eastbound
  • Biscuit Mill eastbound
  • Barron westbound
  • Biscuit Mill westbound

Note that existing temporary stops will remain operational during the construction period.

While construction along Albert Road is in progress, temporary lane closures may be implemented and parking bays near the affected bus stops may be temporarily unavailable.
