The City of Cape Town's Urban Mobility Directorate is continuing with transport infrastructure upgrades along AZ Berman Drive in Mitchells Plain as part of the MyCiTi Phase 2A project. Night time construction work along AZ Berman Drive, between Nduli Street and Wespoort Drive, will commence on Monday, 14 September 2026 and will continue until 14 December 2026, if all goes according to plan.

‘These improvements are aimed at enhancing our road network and preparing this corridor for expanded MyCiTi services, which allows us to provide better public transport and travel conditions for the residents of Mitchells Plain to keep Cape Town moving day after day. I would like to thank residents, businesses and commuters for their continued patience as some construction-related noise may occur over the next few months,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The works will be carried out from Monday to Saturday, between 19:00 to 05:00. Some construction-related noise may occur during these hours.

Residential properties, businesses, and public facilities with approved access will remain open throughout the construction period.

What road users can expect:

• Temporary traffic flow changes along sections of AZ Berman Drive.
• Traffic signage and traffic management personnel to guide road users safely through the construction area.
