The City of Cape Town proposes to add eight new MyCiTi bus stops in Atlantis. Residents and commuters are encouraged to comment on these proposals as from today, 12 September 2022. The closing date for comments is 12 October 2022.
City proposes one-way street conversions for new MyCiTi bus station in Maitland

The City of Cape Town intends to build a new MyCiTi station in Maitland. This forms part of the expansion of the MyCiTi service footprint. The bus station will be located adjacent to the Maitland rail station and existing minibus-taxi facility in Ferndale Drive. However, this will necessitate the conversion of Ferndale Drive and a small section of Station Road into one-way streets to improve traffic flow. Residents and interested and affected parties are encouraged to comment on the proposal to turn these roads into one-way streets as from 19 September to 20 October 2022.
City condemns violence in Hout Bay, attacks on MyCiTi service

The City of Cape Town has suspended its MyCiTi and Dial-a-Ride services in Hout Bay in the interest of the safety of commuters and personnel. This is after public violence erupted in Hout Bay this morning, Monday 5 September 2022, which included the stoning of MyCiTi buses and private vehicles in and around Suikerbossie and Hout Bay Gateway Circle, as well as the burning of tires at the Circle.

The City of Cape Town will start with the construction of MyCiTi bus depots for Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha later this month. The depots are part of the expansion of the MyCiTi bus service to the metro-south east. Residents are invited to attend information days about the project.
Water and electricity wise MyCiTi bus depots for metro-south east

The City of Cape Town will in August 2022 commence with the construction of water and electricity wise MyCiTi bus depots for Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha. The depots are part of the expansion of the MyCiTi bus service to the metro-south east. Local residents and subcontractors from the surrounding communities will also benefit from temporary employment opportunities and contracts as part of this 32-month long construction project.
MyCiTi bus accident under investigation

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is investigating the accident involving a MyCiTi N2 Express bus earlier this evening along Nelson Mandela Boulevard outbound, before Browning Road. We can confirm that no fatalities have been reported to the City.
Sky circle on its way to Hanover Park

The City of Cape Town will soon commence with the construction of a freestanding elevated traffic circle, the first of its kind in South Africa, at the intersection of Govan Mbeki Road (M9) and Jan Smuts Drive (M17) in Hanover Park. City pilots innovative MyCiTi bus traffic signalling system

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas, joined the team responsible for transport network technology yesterday, 10 May 2022 as they were switching on one of the newly installed bus signals along Blaauwberg Road, Table View. These signals form part of the pilot project to test a new bus traffic signal system for the MyCiTi bus service.
