MyCiTi has advanced the integration of local public art into Cape Town’s urban environment. Throughout the city—from Atlantis to the CBD and beyond —our bus stations display exceptional works by local artists that enrich the travel experience and enhance the quality of our shared public spaces.

We are excited to extend this focus on public art along the planned MyCiTi Phase 2A corridor connecting Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain with Wynberg and Claremont.

The Phase 2A public art initiative reaffirms a commitment to creating public spaces that are both functional and culturally meaningful. Public art plays an important role in shaping well-designed environments by providing lasting aesthetic, social, and cultural value. It strengthens the character of shared spaces, fosters a sense of identity and community belonging, and encourages deeper engagement with the places people pass through each day.

Through a carefully curated selection of artworks, Phase 2A aims to elevate public spaces, promote social cohesion and reflect the diverse stories and identities that make up our collective experience.
