The replacement of validators is now complete at stations and on buses as part of ongoing improvements to the MyCiTi payment system.

During this transition, a limited number of passengers experienced card errors when tapping in and out. 

We are now busy with a reconciliation and will proactively refund all penalties incurred from 17 December 2025 until 31 January 2026.

These refunds will be automatically loaded onto the cards of affected passengers by the end of February 2026.

If passengers believe they were overcharged and have not been refunded by the end of February 2026, they are encouraged to complete a Refund Application Form and email it to transport.info@capetown.gov.za or hand it in at a station kiosk. This will allow for the transactions to be verified and any corrections applied.

We do not anticipate further incidents of this nature and remain committed to ensuring a fair, reliable, and efficient service for all our passengers.
