MYCITI PAYMENT SYSTEM CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS

We’re excited to announce the next major steps toward a more modern and flexible MyCiTi payment system. Please take note of the following important and exciting changes effective 14 February 2026. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this important transition.

NEW MYCONNECT CARD

On 14 February 2026, we will launch an improved, new-look myconnect card to replace the current bank-issued myconnect card. The new myconnect cards are quicker to use and they do not expire or require a PIN.

What you need to know:

  • You can keep using your existing card to travel with Mover until your card expires.
  • Monthly and Day Pass users will need a new card. See details below.
  • The new cards will be on sale at station kiosks for R40 from 14 February, when sales of the current bank issued myconnect card will be discontinued.

MONTHLY AND DAY PASSES

  • A new myconnect card is required to load Monthly Passes and 1‑, 3‑ or 7‑Day Passes from 14 February 2026.
  • If you renew a Monthly or Day Pass between 14 February and 31 March 2026, you will receive a new card free of charge to ensure uninterrupted travel.
  • Other passengers loading Monthly or Day Passes will need to replace their existing card for R30 or buy a new card for R40.
  • Passengers who already have an active Pass loaded onto your current myconnect card can continue to use the Pass until it expires. 

CARD VENDING MACHINES DISCONTINUED FROM 13 FEBRUARY 2026

We regret that from 13 February 2026, Card Vending Machines (CVMs) will no longer be operational due to system upgrades.

Passengers are advised to:

  • Load cards at station kiosks or participating retailers, and
  • Look out for additional loading options being introduced soon.

ONLINE LOADING COMING SOON

We’re excited to announce that online top-ups will soon be available via the MyCiTi website. This feature will alllow you to load Mover onto any new or existing myconnect card conveniently from anywhere.
