Annual MyCiTi fare adjustments – 1 July 2026
MyCiTi fares are adjusted on 1 July every year as part of the City of Cape Town's annual budget, which takes into account the latest cost projections for providing services over the year ahead.
On 1 July 2026, fares will increase in response to significant, ongoing increases in global fuel prices that the City has shielded passengers from until now.
Passengers should also note that the tariffs do allow for the fares to be decreased during the course of the financial year in order to protect customers from paying too much in the event of significant, sustained decreases in the price of diesel.
The new fares are planned to be formally adopted when Council approves the City's 2026/27 Budget on 29 June 2026.
Despite the increase in fares, MyCiTi remains the safe, affordable way to get around and the Monthly Pass still offers good value for money for regular passengers travelling long distances.
