MyCiTi commuters are now able to top up their myconnect cards online. Customers can purchase Mover points via the MyCiTi website or the MyCiTi app using a debit or credit card.

‘Forgot to upload MyCiTi Mover points during your travels? Not sure if you have enough points the night before? No problem! We have you sorted as we are now able to offer MyCiTi customers the convenience of loading their Mover points from our website. Commuters will now be able to top up from the comfort of their homes or on the go at any time. This way our Mover point customers don’t have to worry about queues at stations or where they will be loading points next’

‘We are moving into a modern online space for MyCiTi ticketing and payments. This makes life easier and buying Mover points more convenient, from your phone or computer. The system is new and while we expect points to load within five minutes or so, we may need to fix a few things as we go. So, for now, we suggest you plan ahead and load your points online a full 24 hours before you travel. We are finding new and more user friendly ways to keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Online top ups can be activated within minutes at a station validator or info terminal. If customers are however planning to use their online top up points on a feeder bus first, it can take up to 24 hours to be activated, we therefore advise customers to keep this in mind and plan ahead.

Please note that the online top-up service is only available for Mover points. Day passes and monthly passes are only available at station kiosks and participating retailers.

How it works

  • Visit the Top Up page on the MyCiTi website or click the link on the MyCiTi App
  • Enter your myconnect card number, select your Mover package, add your email address for confirmation of your transaction, and click ‘Submit’
  • You will be directed to a secure payment gateway to complete your transaction by debit/credit card. Once payment is successful, a confirmation message will be displayed
