Bafana Bafana return to Cape Town for their match against fellow FIFA World Cup participants, Panama, at DHL Cape Town Stadium. Here’s a guide to gameday transport, parking and overall logistics.

The City is rolling out a free MyCiTi shuttle service for the FIFA international friendly on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

The match, scheduled to kick off at 19:30, forms part of Bafana Bafana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With a capacity crowd of approximately 55 000 spectators expected at the DHL Stadium, the City wants all fans watching the game at the stadium to avoid running late due to traffic and parking woes.

The MyCiTi shuttle along with the PRASA train service, which will be running from all routes into the city, will help alleviate congestion on the roads.

‘This game is scheduled for midweek when traffic is at its peak in the city bowl and the Green Point Precinct. We would like to encourage spectators to make use of public transport services to ensure the efficient movement to and from the stadium precinct. Hop on a train early or get on a free MyCiTi shuttle, which will get you to the game swiftly on its dedicated lane to the stadium. Alternatively, spectators can park in the CBD and join thousands on the Fan Walk to start this matchday experience with the gees of a major event. The City’s Safety and Security personnel will be deployed along the various routes to the stadium to ensure a smooth journey to the game,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

Park and Ride

With DHL Stadium gates opening at 16:30, the MyCiTi shuttle service will start operating from 16:00, exclusively available to match ticket holders.

The bus will leave from the Civic Centre station and pick up fans at the Thibault Square station before heading to the stadium.

Buses will pick up spectators immediately after the game, with the last bus departing the Stadium Station for the Civic Centre at 23:00.

For those taking the MyCiTi shuttle from the Civic Centre station, the City will open its parking at the Civic Centre for ticket holders from 16:00.

The parking bays, accessible from Hertzog Boulevard incoming and on Civic Road, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The parking will be open until 00:00 post-match.

Paid parking is also available at the Parkalot on Jack Craig Street and at Harbour Arch on Harbour Arch Boulevard.

PRASA will provide additional late-night capacity post-match, with trains operating on all service lines, and departures starting from 22:00.

A return ticket costs R20.

Spectators are able to connect from Cape Town Station to the stadium via the MyCiTi shuttle service or by using the Fan Walk.

The Fan Walk extends from the City Centre along Waterkant Street over the pedestrian bridge at Buitengracht, and along Somerset Road, through the underpass at Green Point Circle to the stadium gates.

There will be a dedicated e-hailing pickup and drop-off on Helen Suzman Boulevard (opposite P4).

Road closures

Residents and motorists are advised that a comprehensive traffic management plan will be implemented on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, with road closures and restrictions affecting the Green Point Precinct and surrounding areas.

Closures will be implemented from 10:00 on Tuesday, with no-stopping restrictions from 09:00.

Affected roads include:

• Vlei Road
• Granger Bay Boulevard
• Stephan Way
• Fort Wynyard Street
