The ability to load Standard (EMV) on myconnect cards will be discontinued as of 1 October 2021.

Absa Bank, which issues the myconnect card, has notified MyCiTi that the EMV loading function will be disabled due to changes to the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA).

The following will apply as of 1 October 2021:

• You will no longer be able to load Standard (EMV). You can still load Mover points, a Monthly Pass or a Day Pass to travel.
• You can continue to use any money stored as Standard (EMV) on your card to pay for fares and make small purchases until it is used up. 
• Before your card expires, you can use money stored as Standard (EMV) on your card to purchase Mover points for use on your new card.
