Catch MyCiTi to some of the many festive events taking place in Cape Town over the next few weeks. 

Remember that from 9 to 24 December 2013, MyCiTi buses will operate later in the evenings. The last bus will from depart the V&A Waterfront and Century City Rail at 22:30, and all connecting services (except the Airport) will be extended by an additional 30 minutes. For New Year's Eve, all services will operate until 01:00 in the morning of 1 January 2014, except for the Century City and Airport services which will operate as normal.

Summer Market
Formerly known as the Adderley Street Night Market, the venue for this year’s Summer Market is the Company’s Garden. Open from Saturday 14 December to Monday 30 December, this is a one-stop destination for gift shopping and enjoying local culinary offerings.

Reconciliation Day
The celebrated fan walk from Cape Town station to Green Point will come alive with Reconciliation Day festivities on Monday 16 December 2013. The event will set the tone for a 25-day countdown to the continent’s biggest soccer event, the African Nations Championship 2014 (CHAN).

Christmas Bands
On Tuesday 24 December 2013, the city’s traditional and popular Christmas bands and choirs will entertain locals and visitors alike in the city centre.

New Year’s Eve party
Cape Town’s biggest New Year’s Eve party yet, and the final countdown to the city becoming the World Design Capital, takes place at the Grand Parade on Tuesday 31 December 2013.

The bash starts at 18:00 and boasts a line-up of South Africa’s top DJs and dance artists including chart-topper Toya DeLazy and DJs Ready D and 5fm’s DJ Fresh.

Nagtroepe Parade
The New Year’s Eve Nagtroepe parade will start after the party at 00:30.

Tweede Nuwejaar Parade
This popular event, ringing in the New Year for a second time, will take place from noon on Saturday 4 January 2014 in Darling Street in front of the City Hall.

African Nations’ Championship
This African football tournament takes place from Saturday 11 January to Saturday 1 February 2014. Cape Town will host the opening and closing ceremonies, and be the home base for Bafana Bafana.
